I have a not-so-secret obsession with ripped jeans. I just love the way they give character to any outfit, it’s like they never go out of style !
Learning how to make your own ripped jeans is honestly a game changer; this DIY is super easy, and will allow you to make ripped jeans exactly the way you want them.
I learnt how to rip my jeans myself a few years ago when I was in high school, to the great despair of my mom, who hated them (she still does). I’ve had this voice in my head telling me to rip all of my jeans since then. Which is obviously not a good idea, I have to resist temptation.
But honestly, this post is only a pretext for me to make another ripped jeans !
HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN RIPPED JEANS
What do you need?
The only things you need for this DIY are:
- A pair of jeans
- A pin
Pick a spot to rip, and with the sissors make at least two horizontal cuts as in the picture below.
With the pin, pull a couple of threads apart until you are able to pull the vertical threads with the tweezers.
With the tweezers, remove all the vertical threads.
Here is how it looks once you’ve removed all of the vertical threads:
If you made more than two cuts, start again form step 2.
Pull a few threads above and below your rips, in order to make it look a bit more messy.
This is how you distress your jeans! Make other cuts where you want your jeans to be ripped, and you will have the jeans you want. Isn’t that awesome ?
Are you as obsessed as I am with ripped jeans now? Ha!
